EMDR for

Trauma

You might have heard of EMDR. It’s getting a lot of press these days. But…maybe you have your doubts. Maybe you think it sounds weird to sit watching your therapist wave their fingers around in front of your face, or for you to tap your shoulders repeatedly, and you’re right. It’s totally weird!

As with all approaches to therapy, there is no one sure-fire cure for everyone. But I will say this: EMDR can work really, REALLY well on folks who have severe PTSD symptoms. And the best part is, you don’t even have to believe in it! Show up with all your skepticism. Honestly, I still have lots of my own. But it’s also amazing to see it help people work through things.

EMDR — or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing — is a research-supported treatment for the symptoms of PTSD and other forms of trauma. One of the reasons I finally broke down and got trained in it (it felt a little too trendy for me) was the ample research.

I am trained in EMDR through EMDR Consulting, an EMDRIA-approved training organization. I work under consultation with experienced, long-term practitioners.
